3 Ways Milk Boosts Your Health

Make sure to include milk in your diet.

We all remember our mothers making sure we have two glasses of milk when we were young. While many of us detested the thought of that glass of milk as soon as we opened our eyes every morning (and even looked for ways to get rid of it!), it turns out mom was right all along. Milk is great for your health and fitness. Don’t believe us? Well, here are three benefits to prove this.

1. Leads To Better Physical Performance

Milk is a source of complete protein, as has also been proved through a review in Pharmacogn Reviews. It contains all nine of the essential amino acids necessary for your body to function at an optimal level. Milk contains Casein, which is a protein found in cow’s milk, and makes up for 70-80 per cent of protein found in milk. The other protein found in milk is Whey - it has amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine which are great for health. A study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, links milk and milk products to greater whole-body muscle mass and better physical performance in older adults.

2. Great For Bones

This is something that all of us have grown up listening to - milk is great for bones. The nutritional information of milk reveals that it contains a host of nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, potassium, protein and (in grass-fed, full-fat dairy) vitamin K2. There have been several studies that link milk consumption to better bone health. A study, published in the journal Calcified Tissue International, claims that milk helps keep osteoporosis and fractures at bay.

3. Prevents Weight Gain

This one’s our favourite! However, remember only whole milk helps prevent weight gain. Since milk is high in protein, it helps keep you full for a long time. This helps prevent overeating, claims a study. According to another study, milk also boosts weight loss, thanks to the linoleic acid that it contains. It promotes fat breakdown.

Make sure to have a glass of milk everyday, after all it may also help you shed those kilos!
