5 Breakfast Ideas For Six-Pack Abs

Hitting the gym regularly and still got nothing to flaunt? That’s probably because you’re doing everything right with your workout, but have completely overlooked your diet. And abs without the right diet is an impossible goal to achieve. 
The good news is that there are some foods that you can eat for breakfast to get closer to your six-pack goal. These foods will help you feel fuller and provide the necessary energy to do power-packed workouts. Also, eating these foods for breakfast will help you avoid overeating or unnecessary snacking during the rest of the day. A shout-out to all abs enthusiasts, your breakfast menu is sorted!

1. Sweet Potato

Not only does sweet potato taste really good, it has multiple health benefits too. This food is known as the king of complex carbs i.e. carbs which are digested slowly and keep you full and energized for a long time. “Sweet potatoes are loaded with vitamins and minerals and give energy to our body. They keep you full for a longer time, so you don’t crave unhealthy food”, says Tapasya Mundhra, Dietitian/Nutritionist in Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi. She adds that “Sweet potato acts as an energy food and can prevent fat conversion if used correctly.”

2. Broccoli

Mundhra says, ”Broccoli is rich in vitamin C, a nutrient that can lower cortisol levels during stressful situations. Broccoli also contains a phytonutrient called sulforaphane that increases testosterone levels and helps reduce body fat.” According to a research done by the US Department of Health and Human Services, broccoli is a low-calorie food packed with fibres. It will fill you up quickly and help facilitate weight loss.

3. Tuna

“Canned tuna is considered to be one of the best fish for weight loss”, says Mundhra. A study published in the Journal of Lipid Research claims that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation has the ability to turn off abdominal fat genes. There are two types o fatty acids found in fish oils and cold water fish- DHA and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)- researchers say, DHA can be 40 to 70 per cent more effective at down-regulating fat genes in the abdomen, preventing belly fat cells from expanding in size. “Tuna also supports the body’s immune system while aiding muscle growth and recovery”, adds Mundhra.

4. Eggs

Besides being high in protein, eggs are one of the best foods for building abs. “Eggs contain choline that boosts metabolism and helps in fat reduction,” informs Mundhra.  Also, eggs are the cheapest and easiest way to get good-quality protein. According to researchers at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, people who eat eggs in the morning feel less hungry throughout the day as compared to those who eat complex carbohydrates like bagels.

5. Apples

You must have heard the proverb, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Now what if we told you that it also keeps your belly fat away? Yes, that’s true. A study done at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center reveals that for every 10 grams increase in soluble fibre consumed per day, belly fat was reduced by 3.7 per cent over five years. “A large apple has five grams of fibre and around 85 per cent water, and both fibre and water help you feel full,” quips Mundhra.
