6 Tips On Staying Healthy If You’re Always On The Go

It’s time to take care of yourself.

Are you someone who has to travel a lot for work? And no, we don’t just mean travelling outside your town but even travelling within your city. It’s tough to take care of yourself when you’re constantly on the go - replying to emails, driving from one meeting to another and getting no time to properly eat once you start your work day. We asked Anjali Srivastava, a Dietician as well as a Nutritionist, about how to stay healthy if you’re always on the go. Here are 7 tips that she suggested.

 1. Always Have A Heavy Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. “If you’re travelling all day, make sure you start your day with a heavy breakfast. It’ll help you stay focused and the chances of you getting hunger pangs will reduce,” Srivastava says

2. Drink Lots Of Water

Keeping yourself hydrated will help you reduce the unnecessary work stress. “It’s important that you drink at least 3-4 liters of water every day. If you’re in a city where the weather is extremely hot, try drinking at least 4-5 liters of water to avoid a heat stroke. It’ll keep your body temperature normal,” she says.

3. Walk distances And Climb Stairs

This one is old but always true. “I am not saying that you have to do hours of exercise but it’s important to have a healthy lifestyle. Walk the distances you feel are short and climb stairs at work. This way, you aren’t dedicating a separate time to gymming but you’re working out on the go,” Anjali suggests.

4. Have Uninterrupted Sleep For At Least Six Hours

We don’t give sleeping the credit it deserves. “Your brain, just like your body, needs rest and it’s important to have a proper sleep cycle in order to stay healthy. You’ll feel better and be fresh when you wake up. A good night’s sleep makes a whole lot of difference to your mood as well as your day,” she says.

5. Keep An Apple In Your Bag

“This is one tip that I give every millennial who comes to me. Apple is healthy as well as a complete food,” Anjali tells us. It is said, “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away” and well, it’s definitely true. So make sure you carry an apple in your bag starting today.

6. Avoid Sweets As Much As You Can

“When you’re stressed, your blood sugar spikes and often, you end up stress eating chocolates or anything that’s sweet to compensate how you’re feeling,” Anjali explains. It’s extremely important to avoid sweets when you are trying to stay healthy. Though, if you have a sweet tooth, try to eat food that has natural sugar like honey, jaggery etc.
Keep these tips in mind, starting today.
